Blessings come in many ways. Even through EmilysBreakfast Furniture? Hope so.

Watching the rain running down my window this morning reminds me of a song I recently heard by artist Laura Story.  Here’s the first verse and the chorus:

We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things

‘Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

The back story to this song is Laura’s husband, Martin’s diagnoses of a brain tumor and the subsequent surgery and all the unknown they’re currently facing.

Laura writes:

“…there’s a decision that I find God is asking us to make: whether we are going to choose to interpret our circumstances based on what we hold to be true about God, or whether we’re going to judge what we hold to be true about God based on our circumstances.”

Wow – never thought of it that way.  Makes you think differently about the challenges and pain in your life.
